I turned 40 this year and had been gaining weight for the last 9 months. This was such a shock to me because I do work out and eat pretty well. I tried a number of different things to try to get things under control and failed miserably. My doctor and friends said that I just needed to accept the change in metabolism and body changes from age. Antonia convinced me to give this a go. I was eager to give it a try. I have done weight training through the gym, but nothing like this. The phases of the program really helped me gauge my expectations. You have the unique ability to adapt to people’s personalities and moods. You have been able to sense our mindset even when we feel lazy. In weeks when I feel like kicking back and not working so hard your ability to push us in a low key and fun manner kept us going. You know that we are serious and want the hardest workout possible. You even work up a sweat during our sessions. In the short time we have been working together I have been noticing improvements all around. My running has gotten faster, stronger and I have better form. On vacation my husband couldn’t get over the change in my stomach. Since I had my third child, I thought it was impossible to regain the muscle tone under the skin. I thought it was damaged, but lately I can see my ribs and definition coming back. My posture is so much better.

I am standing taller and all around feeling so much better about myself. In just over a month, I have lost 3 inches off of my waist and my body fat went from 22 percent to 17 percent. I have been working out with my trainer for a year and a half. Six months after I started, I got pregnant with my third child. I was so worried I would not be able to lose my pregnancy weight. While I was pregnant I trained twice a week and did cardio three times a week. I ate healthy and did not go crazy with my sweets. When I first started Andy’s program, I was at a very low fitness level, and didn’t really see the point in having a personal trainer. I was overweight, and had little self-confidence. After doing his program for about 4 months, I started to realize that I hated my image, so I worked hard and went from being 5”5 and 160 pounds, to being 5’10” and 135 pounds over the course of one summer vacation. My main exercise was running and with limited time I needed to work as hard as I could in less than an hour. I started training with Joann about a year ago. My initial goals were to lose weight, exercise more and to develop more energy and stamina. Since I've been training once a week with Joann I've changed some of my ideas about health and fitness. The things I've learned, such as 5-6 small meals a day using portion control, combining cardio workouts with strength training and the importance of lean body weight to fat ratio, have helped me acheive my goals.

I'm not perfect, but 90% of the time I follow my exercise program 4-6 days a week and eat a nutritious, low glycemic diet. I feel wonderful and I'm thrilled to have dropped 2-3 dress sizes in my clothing. I plan to continue meeting with Joann once a month to keep up with my progress and to change my exercise routine. Since starting my training with Boston Fitness Results last spring my physical fitness and knowledge have increased tenfold. The most important factors of my training are the relationship and I have with my trainer. This ensures that I work at my best through each workout session and program, as well as allowing my trainer to know when changes need to be made to fit my body’s strengths and weaknesses. For example, my upper body was much weaker than my lower body so my trainer had to constantly adjust my workouts to allow me to work the major muscle groups without stress on my arms and shoulders from holding onto heavy weights. The same adjustment was made when I needed to develop stability in my shoulders to avoid injury and incorporating stretching routines into my workouts to maximize my ability on certain movements.

My trainer shares his knowledge of the physiology of the exercises I am doing which helps me to make the connections not just visually from observing demonstrations, but also in my head and then in the muscles I need to engage to maximize the exercises using correct form. This information allows me to pick up new movements quickly and effectively, often to my surprise! He knows how I learn and tailors the coaching accordingly.

My trainer motivates me to succeed during every single session and I look forward to my workouts even when I don’t feel in top form. My trainer’s encouragement and belief in me has kept me on track and he has helped me to make the necessary changes in my life to lose about 30 lbs thus far. What’s more, training is always fun, always hard work and always leaves me looking forward to the next session no matter how tired I am.

I have been training with Boston Fitness Results since June of this year (six months). I started training to prepare myself for a four month ski trip that I plan to take this winter. My decision to go the Personal Trainer route was the best decision that I could have made. I have always worked to stay in shape, but I had never worked with a personal trainer before. Boston Fitness Results had me adjust my eating habits to improve my nutrition, increase my energy level, and increase the fat burning ability of my body. In addition, the workouts have been well planned and designed to increase my all-around fitness, strength, power and flexibility.

My workouts are designed to focus on areas that he knows are important for skiing (just not the après-ski cocktails and hot tub part), to give me the strength and stamina to perform at the highest level possible. The workouts are always challenging and demanding, without asking more than I am capable of. There is no question in my mind that without BFR’s help and prodding, I never would have achieved so much in six months, or maintained the self discipline to work as hard as they have had me work. I feel that I have done as much as possible in six months and I am now ready for my trip.

Having stayed with the program for six months, I can see and feel the difference. I have managed to lose a few pounds and I can feel the improved muscle tone all over my body. I wish that I could add that I have gotten better and younger looking, and that I had re-grown more hair, but I am too modest to say something like that. I’ll just let others say that about me!

When I began working with Boston Fitness Results, I had minimal experience lifting weights or doing any type of conditioning at all. Knowing that I wanted to gain weight and increase my strength and muscle mass for an upcoming lacrosse season, my trainer assessed my goals, strengths and weaknesses, and created a comprehensive program specifically suited to meet those goals. In 6 months of working with Boston Fitness Results, I have gained 10lbs. Also, when I began training a set of 3 pull ups was a challenge. I can now complete 12 pull ups with relative ease.
